SLS / SLES (Sodium Lauryl / Laureth Sulfate): Harsh foaming agents that are frequently found in shampoos, shower gels and bath products that have been shown to cause eye and skin irritation including eczema. SLS can also be found in industrial garage floor cleaners and engine degreasers and is sometimes used in clinical tests to cause skin irritation.
PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM: This chemical is derived from petroleum & may cause skin discolouration & irritation. Other names include mineral oil, liquid paraffin and baby oil. Paraffinum Liquidum can be found in creams, oils & baby products.
PARABENS: Found in more than 90 per cent of skin care products. Parabens are preservatives that have been linked to hormone disruption possibly increasing risks for certain types of cancer, impaired fertility, or alteration of the development of a fetus or young child. Parabens have been found in breast-cancer tumours and are also linked to dermatitis and allergies. Labeled under Methylparaben, Propylparaben, butylparaben etc .
PROPYLENE GLYCOL: Can also be found in anti-freeze. This chemical alters skin structure, allowing other chemicals to penetrate deeper into the skin, increasing the amounts of chemicals that reach the bloodstream. It has been linked with skin irritation such as dermatitis and eczema.
